This week, my project manager sent me a youTube.com link, and told me that a user in management at the company where I work wanted to see a clearer version of it and understand how it could help us. So I went to work finding out more about the demo. I found out that it was a presentation given at the Microsoft 2008 Business Intelligence Conference, and that it was on a the latest version of the MS BI AllUP VPC, which demonstrates BI using the Microsoft Stack.
What I found was more than I expected. As I listened the demo, the script sounded very familar and some things looked extremely familar. I request the project files for this demo from Microsoft, which they graciously provided. When I loaded them up, my face lit up.
A little under 2 years ago, I was with a consulting firm, where I worked with a colleague in cooperation with Microsoft to develop a BI demo using SQL Analysis Services, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 [MOSS] and what would become Performance Point (Business Scorecard Manager [BSM], ProClarity) and Office Communication Server. I had seen it presented a number of times, but what I was now seeing was a revamp version of my demo usign PerformancePoint 2007. But it was our demo, just with a new MOSS skin and slightly modified script.
